the annual trip through the corn maze

October 17, 2012

atlas and i have an almost-annual tradition of visiting a corn maze. last week, we went to bella organic’s corn maze on sauvie island with a friend and her pups.

it is a fun tradition for me, though i was wondering what atlas thinks about it. it occurred to me while we were walking that, from a dog’s perspective, it might seem like wandering around in a corn field with a person who doesn’t seem to know where she’s going and often winds up in the exact same place is not really the best idea.

(you would think that dogs would be good at leading you through mazes. as it turns out, not so much.)

just for fun, here are the stories from two previous visits:

  1. I also would think that dogs could easily find their way out of a maze because of their keen sense of smell. One problem, however. They probably have a tendency to walk through the rows of corn making doggie tunnels, rather than up and down the rows.

On second thought. Corn stalks are pretty strong. Maybe they can’t get through the rows, which would make it much harder for them to find their way ut.

  2. Oh, such fun… I miss these kinds of autumn happenings! We just don’t have as many autumn festivals here. I love autumn! :o) Cuddles to Atlas–sweet pumpkin he is! ((HUGS))

I love the oldest story and pictures – Atlas looks so little! :) I mean young. :)

  4. What a load of good fall fun!! I adore the pic of downward dog Atlas!!!

Jerry: Atlas does want to sneak through the maze! I wonder sometimes if there are just too many smells.

Tracy: He is a sweet pumpkin! Even if he doesn’t know how to pose for me. 😉

Amy: I had to go back and look and you are so right! Which is funny, because that was only 2009. It wasn’t really that long ago.

Patty: Me too. He is quite the expert at it. Unlike his person.
