superior lake, lake superior

September 10, 2012

i have a feeling that no matter where i roam, lake superior will always be my favorite body of water. i lived a few miles away from it for about half my life.

on thursday night, one of my sisters and i went to mclain state park to run on the trails and jump in the lake as the sun dropped below the horizon. on saturday night, i went back with another sister to take pictures of the sunset.

it was so lovely. i look at these pictures and i feel so lucky to have experienced such beauty while growing up. i also know why i am drawn to the cold and wild and seemingly infinite pacific.

  1. Sister and sunset…sweet, so sweet… GORGEOUS images, Elizabeth. The sea, water is captivating…I grew up inland, so the sea always was a wonder to me, and I dreamed of living near water. My dream came true. :o) Happy Days ((HUGS))

I feel the same about the Lake. Love it, love going back to it. I think that’s why I enjoy going to Duluth to visit, so I can see my lake.

i bought my junior prom dress in duluth!
and we drove to visit the statue of neptune on prom night! of course my prom dress was covered by a heavy coat. lol.
i think of lake superior as a sea.
any lake you can be on and not see any shore around you is big enough to be called a sea!
    beautiful images e.
    brought back happy memories!

I do miss Lake Superior, and although Cape Cod feels very familiar to me now, there is nothing like the wild Lake Superior coastline. These pictures make me homesick. :)
