this is atlas

July 11, 2012

this is atlas when he wants me to do something.

the trouble is that this is also atlas when he wants me to do something and i don’t know what it is.

if he could speak, i feel like he would say, “look at me, being such a patient dog. i just sit and wait and sit and wait. i don’t know why it’s taking you so long. i really could not have expressed myself any more clearly.”

  1. Dear Atlas… Our Charlie has a similar expression, and it is often hard to “read” compared to other expressions he had. Oh, if only they could talk, it would be easier! Or would it? LOL…. Give Atlas a cuddle from me & Charlie. Happy Day, Elizabeth ((HUGS))

    it’s mom…
    i want a walk
    i want a treat
    i want a hug
    those are the best three.
although for a walk, my zeke would come to wherever i was and gently push his nose
against my leg. always that meant a walk.
    and he loved to walk!
give atlas a bear hug from me too.

ps… of course in atlas’s case it could
also mean… i need to see a kitty. now!!!

The good thing, whatever he needs, you will try and provide it. Lucky pooch to belong to you! or is it, you belong to each other?

Finn does the same thing. I run through my list of possibles “potty?”, “play?”, “food?”, “thirsty?”. He usually will get excited at one of those – if not, i can do nothing but try to ignore the pleading look and try not to feel guilty.

  5. Oh Elizabeth, I don’t think I’ve told you how much I love your blog and how uplifting it is to look through it. So I’m telling you now.

    Lots of love, Jane.

  6. Oh, I have missed that face!! Would have so loved to see the 2 sweet pups together… as it was we met so many pooches and owners. Absolutely LOVE the dog-friendliness of Oregon (yes, among other things!) Turns out li’l Bailey is quite the chick-magnet (oh and guy magnet and doggy magnet too!) Really added an extra dimension to the trip!

patty: clearly she is quite the magnet! i love it! i’m sure they will meet someday – and it will be so very fun. :)

jane: oh, thank you! thank you for sharing that. it makes me so happy to hear.

andrea: haha. i’ve never thought of running through a list to see what he responds to! i will try that next time.

ann: i think we belong to each other. :)

tammy: i can just picture him poking his nose into you! so sweet. when i was on the computer more, atlas would come and stand right next to me around 5pm. that meant it was time to get off and go outside for a walk. i loved that reminder.

tracy: haha. i wonder! it would be harder to ignore it if we really did always know what they wanted. and sometimes i just don’t want to go for a walk right then. 😉
