the dawning of the light, volume 17

May 20, 2012

{a photo project honoring radiance, one of my words for 2012 :: 52 photos that represent radiance, 52 photos that represent luminosity.}

my new plan is that if i can’t decide whether an image better represents radiance or luminosity, it represents both.

that’s how i feel about this image. i don’t actually know why i can’t decide which it is. it looks like i would definitively say radiance, and yet, i can’t.

i do, however, think it is a very good depiction of the series title: the dawning of the light.

p.s. if you happen to use a reader, it appears that my feed is not working. i’m very sorry. i have no idea why this is as of yet, but i am optimistic that i will figure it out eventually.

    i like it.
    sometimes radiance is radiant only because of the shadows. or we couldn’t stand it.
    and this has a hint of shadow.
    i think it’s lovely.
    i always like your more “architectual” ones.
    but then you do a nature one and i say
    i always like your natural beauty ones! lol.

  2. This is stunning! And – yes – it is truly radiant!

  3. Elizabeth, you ARE coming up in my reader now – Yay! I’m trying to like this photo, but here is the problem: It looks like the French doors in my studio, which have blinds inserted in the middle of them. Love them, but last week the weed whacker threw up a little pebble which shattered the glass and it is turning out to be a b__ch to get repaired. One of the estimates was DOUBLE of what the whole set of doors cost in the first place. So I need to detach myself from that….. and just enjoy your lovely image….

    patty: oh my goodness! that is crazy! total permission to dislike it. i am disliking that it is reminding you of your problem. i hope you find the perfect (not-doubly-priced!) solution!

    marcie: thank you!

    tammy: that’s true. or we couldn’t look at it because it would hurt our eyes! (says the person who happened to glance at the sun yesterday because it seemed in shadow and whose eyes still hurt a little.)

  5. I can’t believe I’ve been away so long. I have missed so much. I have missed you all so much!
