  1. Is the trail as obvious when there is no snow? My guess is that it is not.

No. It’s not really obvious when there’s snow, either, until it gets packed down a bit. Some neighbors make it and if they haven’t been out in a while, and I use it, I get misplaced quite easily. There is pink ribbon along the trail to mark it, but the ribbons are not close enough for me.

  2. the perfect name for it!
    so very beautiful.
    except.
can’t help wondering what the poor deer and other wildlife find to eat in such deep heavy snow. it hurts me to think of it.
and yet… still. it’s so beautiful.

It does remind me of Narnia! Ironic thing….I am reading Narnia to my youngest right now:)

The deer move toward Lake Superior in the winter, where there is less snow and cedar trees to eat from. It’s called “yarding”. It is our very own Yooper Zoo. (I just thought of that and I am chuckling here.) We drive to the lake and bring them apples and carrots and watch them eat.

Tammy: I did not know the answer – well, I knew they moved, but I didn’t know where – until I saw Bette’s reply. I must confess that I hope to see a deer someday, even though I know that if I do, it is probably not really a good thing (for the deer, I mean).

Bette: THANKS!!! Yooper Zoo. Hahaha. Clearly I need to go to the lake. Hope they enjoy the book! Maybe I should read it to Atlas. :)

  5. It does feel like narnia this winter….gorgeous.

  6. Thanks for sharing this narnian beauty;
we haven’t had a smidge of snow yet
but it’s expected tomorrow so I’m more
than a little excited. Maybe I’ll get
to see some of the white stuff afterall:)
Warm toes and wintertime grace to you,
    Jennifer

Jennifer: How exciting! I hope you do! And what a beautiful winter wish – “warm toes & wintertime grace”. Thank you.

    Donna: It really really does.
